Caleb Followill Leaves Dallas Show to Have a Beer?

I’m a big, big fan of Lainey Gossip! I read her blog all the time. I'm a fan mostly because I love how her work is factual entertainment news and not just a series of baseless rumours. Basically, she's not a tabloid; her site is up to date and consistently supported by facts, pictures, interviews, etc.

That being said, her work will constantly make you laugh and has some 'smutty' elements-- for your guilty pleasure. At the same time, when something is serious and needs to be taken seriously, she proceeds in that matter. If a topic is just too invasive, she leaves it alone. For instance, following Amy Winehouse's death, the site posted one small mention of the late star, paying tribute to her music. Lainey posted that there would be no further commentary on her death regardless of what news broke because "there is no place for that here."

If you notice some similarities in our sites, it is because I truly am inspired by how she delivers breaking news. I may be more preoccupied with fashion, but when I am writing about entertainment news, I try and proceed with humor when appropriate and seriousness when necessary.

Speaking of which, I just read an article about Caleb Followill from Kings of Leon on her site. While performing in Dallas the other night, Caleb was suspected to be under the influence and incoherent. He addressed the crowd in the middle of the show and said:

"My voice is completely 100 per cent wrong, I'm sorry... Do you know what? I'm going to drink some beer and I'm going to drink some tequila and I'm going to have a good time, and for the record I'm not drunk... I'm just f-cking hot... I'm about to fall down here because I'm so goddamn hot. I have no goddamn idea what the f-ck is going on, all I know is that I'm married to the prettiest f-cking girl in the whole world...I'm gonna go backstage for a second. I'm gonna vomit, I'm gonna drink a beer and I'm gonna come back out here and I'm gonna play three more songs."

If you're wondering, the hot wife is Lily Aldridge.

He didn't return to the show and the band canceled their following show in Houston. The bands publicist released a statement stating that Caleb suffered from heat exhaustion and dehydration which caused his voice to seize.

His brother and fellow band member Jared posted on Twitter the real cause of the shows cancelation:

"Dallas, I cannot begin to tell you how sorry I am. There are internal sicknesses & problems that have needed to be addressed. No words. I love our fans so much. I know you guys aren’t stupid. I can’t lie. There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade”

So clearly, there's some issues with substance abuse that have yet to be addressed publicly. He likely has yet to seek help and drawing from Jared's tweet, it's at a point where it has gotten so that nobody is trying to cover for him anymore.

I think everyone knows someone who's suffered from addiction. At first there's shame, you think you can help the person privately, and so you try and encourage them to stop, or seek rehab. When nothing changes for the better and things get progressively worse, you eventually reach a breaking point and are terrified that the individual is going to severely harm or kill himself or herself in the process. That is the moment you realize it is not recreational, it is not a controlled habit, it's a disease and you no longer care who knows, as long as you can find someone to help you.

I think that's the point Jared is at now.

The Kings of Leon Dallas and Houston shows have been rescheduled for September. I think that's a bit soon if he is planning on seeking help. I saw Kings of Leon in concert last year and was blown away. Great vocals, amazing performers, the crowd was sold out -- a perfect concert experience. That is how the band should remain.

Here's hoping that he gets the help he needs.
