The other day, I was thinking that the last time I would be able to write commentary on Friday Night Lights would be at the Emmy's. There wasn't any news on this supposed movie that was being contemplated and so, I was losing faith. I was heartbroken by this realization.
Turns out, there's no need to worry.
According to TV Line, executive producer Peter Berg confirmed that a Friday Night Lights movie was in the works while attending the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour. He stated that a script is currently being written and that the “goal would be to focus the film around Kyle and Connie and bring [in] some new characters and then bring in some of our familiar faces. We have, I think, a really fresh, very original take on it. We’re very serious about wanting to do it… If all goes well, we would shoot it next year at some point.”
Who will be the familiar faces? The Riggins brothers? The Colette's? Buddy Garrity? The excitement is overwhelming, here's hoping more details break soon.
