The Reign of Reality TV from 'Real World' to 'Real Housewives'

Snooki 'Jersey Shore' & Bethenny Frankel 'Real Housewives: NY' laughing all the way to the bank. 
The rise of modern day reality shows started innocently enough with the first "Real World" in 1991. MTV got together five unassuming, young adults, stuck them in a New York City loft and let the cameras role. A simple enough concept, but a decade later it has turned into a lucrative empire of excess and exploitation unlike anything TV execs could've hoped for. The golden cow has turned into Sodom and Gomorra and everyone is cashing in.
