What Movie Did You See This Weekend?

Surprising us all, The Smurfs tied Cowboys & Aliens for first place over the weekend, both grossing over $36 million dollars in box office sales. With big names like Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig tied to the film, it was expected that Cowboys & Aliens would steal the show.

Even more surprising is that in its second week Captain America: The First Avenger finished in third place with just under $25 million in sales, and in its third week, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, finished in fourth place with just under $22 million in sales. That means that Crazy, Stupid, Love rounded out the top 5 with just over $19 million in box office sales over the weekend.

Crazy, Stupid, Love stars Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Steve Carell, Julianne Moore, and Marisa Tomei. Coming in fifth on week one was definitely unexpected, considering the all-star cast and the hype surrounding the romantic comedy.
