The Jersey born, New York and Dominican raised, Zoe Saldana, was a classically trained dancer until the age of 18 when she caught the acting bug and made her successful foray into film. After finding worldwide success in movies like "Star Trek" and "Avatar," Britney Spears' former bestie in "Crossroads" stars in this summer's revenge fueled, action flick, "Colombiana."
MTV invoked a lifetime ban on Andrew Dice Clay and 22 years later in walks foul-mouthed, chain-smoking Jo Calderone. Lady Gaga again pulled off the unexpected as Jo, in what seemed like a musical ode to "A Streetcar Named Desire's" Stanley Kowalski.
The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards promise spectacles and surprises beyond our wildest dreams. Reports reveal this year's theme is based on the space-time continuum (one wonders if MTV consulted Stephen Hawking for this ambitious design) and (gasp!) another Lady Gaga surprise. Will all this planning live up to the wildest moments in VMAs history?

A-list stars like Lady GaGa, Justin Bieber, Eminem and Madonna have joined hands to support Save the Children's "I'm Gonna Be Your Friend" campaign.
Using their social media power, they aim to raise funds and awareness for the drought, medicine and food crisis in East Africa.
The campaign is kicked off on Tuesday, August 9 with the celebrities taking to their Twitter or Facebook pages to raise awareness. Britney Spears was among the early ones, tweeting
"Just got @BobMarley's "High Tide or Low Tide" - proceeds go to children in #EastAfrica. U all can help #beafriend -Brit".
Bob Marley's tune was personally chosen by his family to accompany a Kevin Macdonald-directed short movie about the appalling condition in Africa. The singer's widow Rita said,
"Not one child should be denied food nor water. Not one child should suffer. Along with Save the Children, we must stand up together as friends to put a stop to this, to feed our children and to save their lives."
The video would be sold digitally with all proceeds going to Save the Children. The celebrities will continue raising the awareness until they have an audience of 700 million.

Lady Gaga was on Howard Stern's Sirius XM radio show recently extolling the virtues of abstinence.
Although she makes a valid point, has Gaga gone Jonas or is she just now realizing the wisdom of Janet Jackson's "Let's Wait Awhile"? Telling teens to wait until they know what they want is one thing but some celebrities use virginity as a badge of honor, which can backfire. Besides, what's their message?
The Femme Fatale tour just kicked off June 17, and there are already reports saying that Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj are butting heads!
According to the rumor, a source is saying that
“[Britney] is upset that Nicki kept running over [her allotted] time. In Sacramento she was over about 10 minutes. But [on Saturday night in San Jose] Nicki went over by nearly 45 minutes.”
Brit reportedly confronted Nicki and her crew.
“Britney came by Nicki’s dressing room with her dancers,”
the insider added.
“They were talking sh– like they were going to do something. Nicki came out [of her dressing room] and at first was going to beat someone’s a–. But when she saw how ridiculous Britney and them looked, she just laughed.”
In case you missed it, Britney and Nicki are getting ready to kick off their tour together and Sunday night at the 2011 Billboard Awards the two warmed up by hitting the stage for a quick performance. Check it out...
Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez weren't the only ones smooching it up last night for the public. Did you see Britney and Rihanna kiss on stage at last night's Billboard Music Awards show?
No, you didn't. Because ABC cut to the audience when it happened!
After giving a performance of their remix of Rihanna's S&M, RiRi grabbed Britney's face and planted a big wet one on her cheek.
Shades of Madonna and that 2003 kiss with Britney at MTV's Video Music Awards, huh?
Not only are Brit and Nicki touring together now they teamed up for the "Till The World Ends" remix and brought in Ke$ha, who actually co-wrote the original.
RiRi's rocking a new dew and has a new remix for her hit single "S&M" and said,
“It had to be major,”
“I asked my fans last week who they really wanted me to collaborate with, and Britney was one of the most popular names. Britney doesn’t do features, and it was really amazing that she wanted to be a part of this song.”

Sources say that Nicki Minaj is in discussions -- but not confirmed -- to support Britney Spears on her upcoming tour after Enrique Iglesias abruptly pulled out hours after the tour was announced.
Nicki is currently on the road with Lil Wayne on his "I Am Still Music" tour until April 28 and Britney's tour doesn't start until June 17. The tour promoter, Live Nation, and representatives for Nicki could not be reached for comment.
Word is, Brit has expressed interest in adding Usher to the tour but he is highly unlikely to join, as he is managed by Randy Phillips who also helms AEG Live, producers of Britney's' last tour who are very competitive with the current promoter Live Nation.
