Oprah Gives Away More Than A Million Bucks!!

Oprah Winfrey dropped serious cash on some Australians during a taping of her show today ... including $1,000,000 worth of computer equipment to a local school.

O gave over $1 million of HP and Microsoft gear to the Canterbury Boys School -- including a laptop for every teacher and student.

In a particularly tear-jerking moment, Oprah presented a check to a man battling cancer in the amount of $250,000, courtesy of Microsoft. They also got an Xbox 360 video game system.

The episode will air some time in 2011.

Some are debating whether using the taxpayers money to stage Oprah's show in Australia was a good idea or not...

Federal Tourism Minister Martin Ferguson has defended the use of taxpayers' money to help stage the Oprah Winfrey talk show in Australia.

The "small investment" of $4 million to $5 million by several federal and state agencies is money well spent,
Mr Ferguson says.

Australia had already reaped a benefit of $71 million in Australia and $14 million in the United States, he says.

Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce, whose company helped bring the show to Australia, said,

"There's no doubt in my mind it's the best marketing expenditure we could make.

"It's probably one of the best tourism initiatives Australia will ever make."

Ms Winfrey was asked at a media conference to explain the secret of her success.

"I believe I have never left the space of the viewer,"
she replied.

"I have never lost sight of the viewer.

"My feet are on the ground. I'm just wearing better shoes."

In case you missed it, former co-workers of the "Oprah Show" are suggesting that Oprah's tears during her recent interview with Barbara Walters were fake...check it out:
