It’s Official: Ashton Kutcher to Replace Sheen in Two and a Half Men

Since Charlie Sheen’s public meltdown that led to him being fired from his role on Two and a Half Men, rumors have been circulating about who will takeover.

Possible replacements for Sheen have included Woody Harrelson, Jeremy Piven, Rob Lowe, and Hugh Grant who according to the Huffington Post turned down an offer of $1 million an episode because of creative differences.

With Grant out, CBS and Warner Bros. approached Ashton Kutcher who confirmed today that he is on board. At first, I hated this idea. Then I realized I hated it because I just wanted Sheen to come back, which obviously isn’t happening. When you make peace with that, Kutcher does seem like a logical and good fit. He has the star power, he has a history with comedy, and he’s good looking. Even if he doesn’t have the dry humor or sarcasm that Sheen’s character, Charlie, is known for (and I’m not saying he doesn’t, I’m saying I don’t know) he could channel some of the Kelso ignorance and stupidity to his character, which would make his luck with women just as frustrating for Charlie’s brother Allen, who will remain a series regular. We all know that Charlie’s drinking and womanizing is an integral part of the show and will likely be picked up by the new actor. At least, I think so.

Now that it’s official, I wonder how the writers are going to add Kutcher into the series and how they will explain Charlie’s absence? I guess we will have to wait and see.
