The Episode Before the Last

I can't believe it is all coming to an end. The first season of The Voice went by quick, right? I just voted online for who I would like to see win the cash prize and record deal tomorrow night. Wait for it...

The person I voted for is Javier Colon.

Wait! Before you start defending the other three competitors, let me intervene. I know how amazing every single one of them is. Dia, Beverly, and Vicci are three extremely talented artists who I am  90% sure will secure record deals regardless of who wins tomorrow night.

Now, let me justify my choice. It is not solely based on talent, but also on a feeling. When Javier performs I get butterflies. I know that sounds lame but it's true, I do, and that is what I constitute as good music. When a voice repeatedly gives you chills, regardless of what song is being sung, I think that is when you know the artist is having an impact on you and likely on others too.

Tonight, I got that feeling when Javier sang his original song and then again when he and his coach Adam Levine sang a duet of Michael Jackson's Man in the Mirror. That duet is what sealed the deal for me -- nobody can do it like MJ but let me tell you, Javier came really, really close!

Whether or not Javier will win is beyond me. Dia's original song was phenomenal and her coach Blake Shelton has been doing a great job promoting her while he has been on tour. She would be my second choice. Vicci and Cee-Lo's duet was intense! Pat Benatar's Love is a Battlefield was an excellent song choice by the coach. Vicci has this raspy, rawness about her that reminds me of a combination between Pat Benatar and Melissa Ethridge.

And then there's Beverly -- I love her Rock & Roll attitude. I think that is what the voters love too and sadly, her original song Love Sick wasn't very Rock & Roll or edgy at all. Then there was the duet she sang before her original song. Christina chose a slower version of her single Beautiful for the two to perform. Again, I was so dissapointed. I wanted Beverly to sing something more challenging, that would really set her apart as the Rock & Roll chick with a huge voice. Her song selections have always been so spot on in accomplishing this, until now.

The episode before the last was almost perfect. Blake looked sexy in Ray Bands--  finding out that Adam bough Vicci a pair of jeans made me fall in love with him a little more. Cee-Lo said creepy things like always, and Christina was very Christina when she stole the show during her duet with Beverly.

I'm really nervous for tomorrow's elimination show. I don't know who will win but I am definitely excited to find out. I think I can honestly say I wouldn't be dissapointed regardless of who won, but my heart is set on Javier.

Here is a sample of Javier's music. This is him performing Fix You by Coldplay:
