The academy has been associated with the British Monarchy since the 1940's and in 2010, Prince William was announced as the newest Academy president. So if the President must attend the gala, you know what that means: Kate would also be in attendance!
I know you're excited to see what she wore but first, I found this next tidbit of information both hilarious and cute. Apparently a lot of A List celebs were extremely star-struck by the royals, which isn't surprising. What is surprising is that one of the biggest divas in Hollywood was reportedly also one of the biggest Royal groupies!
Jennifer Lopez was photographed being extremely chatty and touchy with both Will and Kate on Saturday night! Isn't that cute? I think it's cute..You do not get to see celebs humbled very often.
Here's who made the best dressed list at the 2011 BAFTA Gala.

Blake Lively in Marchesa:
When I think of Blake Lively's fahion I think mini dresses. It's a fact, she likes to show off her legs, but wouldn't you if you had legs like hers? I'm not used to seeing Blake Lively so covered up-- there is something very anti-Blake about this Marchesa dress.
The style of the gown is very flowy, very bohemian, but the pale grey color is soft and ethereal. The embroidery, Lorraine Schwartz earrings and Christian Louboutin pumps add a very regal vibe to the look.

Jennifer Garner in YSL:
I never, ever like Jennifer Garner's fashion choices. Whether it is on the red carpet, or taking a walk with the kids, I find her style to be very safe, often favoring comfort over style.
Well, it's time for me to eat my words.
She looks stunning in this navy draped YSL gown. She accesorized the one shoulder gown with gold David Webb earrings and soft loose waves.

Kate Middleton in Alexander McQueen:
Everyone was waiting on Kate to arrive and to see what she would wear. It's no surprise that the Duchess made my best dressed list just like it is no surprise that she wore a British designer to the Gala.
I love all the subtle feminine details about this Alexander McQueen gown: the pleats, the cap sleeves, the cinched waist, the beaded white belt, the pretty lilac color, it's all very Kate!

Cat Deeley in Christian Dior:
Not just anyone could pull of this color or this style of dress, but Cat Deeley can! The windsor blue halter gown features a drop waist, deep v neck, and elegant lace detailing, She chose to accesorize with minimal gold jewelry and loose blonde waves.
