Keep This Years Biggest Trends In Mind When Picking Your Next Bikini

The Little Black Bikini:

We’ve already established that every woman should own a little black dress. The same rule applies with little black string bikinis. Opt for styles that are comfortable but still show off your curves. If you're well endowed in the bust area like Jenny McCarthy, look to halter styles that tie around the neck to provide more support. If you have awesome abs like Megan Fox, low rise bottoms are super flattering!

Don’t Be Afraid of Color:
Whether it’s bolds or brights, don’t shy away from color. Shopping for swimwear is like shopping for any other piece to add to your wardrobe. Choose colors that best compliment your skin tone. Also, be cautious with your first bikini choice of the season. You may not have the tan you’re custom to yet and you don’t want to look washed out. Look at the different bikini colors seen below on Gwyneth Paltrow. Both are blue but the striped two-piece doesn't really flatter her skin tone. The darker blue stands out and is much more flattering against her light skin.

Keep in mind- a pop of color is always more flattering than a bland bikini. This applies to all skin tones.

A Hard Look to Mater- The Monokini:
This style has gotten a bad rap over the years (reasonably so.) When a swimsuit is centered around cut out detailing it's already got a lot going on.. There's no need to add more detailing or to go overboard with prints and sequences. Few women have mastered the Monokini; Audrina Patridge is one of them and that because she knows the secret is to keep it simple and to keep the cut outs to a minimal.

Mix and Match:
Mixing and matching different tops and bottoms creates an unmatched but fun look. This idea is great for a few reasons. If you’re going on a trip and you're on a budget, you can fool people into thinking you’re wearing a brand new bikini by mixing two different styles or colors. Also, it gives you more freedom when shopping. Not everyone’s body is made like a model or mannequins so if half the bikini doesn’t fit, swap it for something else.

Play With Ruffles, Tie Dye, and Prints!
Shopping for swimwear can and should be fun. Go all out and collect different pieces and styles to suit your location and the event you're attending. Look for fun themes that are nautical or tribal inspired. If you're feeling girly play with ruffles and beading.
