5.9 Earthquake Shakes The East Coast, Shuts Down Nuclear Plants & The Stock Market Rises?! (PHOTOS/ VIDEO)

Every one was talking about it today and half of the U.S. felt it's tremors....as a 5.9 Magnitude Earthquake shook up the East Coast.

The quake's epicenter was Mineral, Va., 84 miles from Washington and southwest of Fredericksburg. The shock waves began at 1:51 p.m. and shook buildings and sidewalks for roughly 15 seconds, triggering fire alarms throughout the region and sending thousands of evacuated employees into the streets.

So far there are no reports of serious injuries or deaths. But people in Virgina, Washington DC, NYC, Massachusetts, Georgia and many more places along the East Coast felt the quake.

One person even wrote on Twitter,

"I saw the tweets from DC about earthquake, then 15 seconds later felt it in NYC. Social media is faster than seismic waves!"

The quake was centered near a nuclear power plant, raising concerns that the facility could have been damaged.....a scary reminder of Japan's quake a few months ago.

This led to the shut down the North Anna nuclear plant roughly 40 miles northwest of Richmond, Va., not far from the quake’s epicenter.

Both reactors at the Dominion Power-operated plant automatically shut down as designed in response to the quake, NRC spokesman David McIntyre said. The plant’s diesel generators switched on when the plant eventually lost off-site power.

Twelve other nuclear plants across six states declared “unusual events” — the lowest NRC emergency classification — in response to the earthquake.

WHERE WAS PRESIDENT OBAMA?

President Barack Obama received updates on infrastructure damage during a post-quake conference call with senior advisers as well as NRC Chairman Gregory Jaczko and Craig Fugate, administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

But it seems all of this, didn't let President Obama miss a beat. He was shown golfing all day on Martha's Vineyard.

IF YOUR HOME WAS DAMAGES DURING THE QUAKE:

You better cough up the money yourself...says the government.

Homeowners won’t be covered by standard property insurance policies ...

Earthquake protection is generally excluded from standard homeowners’ insurance policies, and consumers have to purchase coverage either as a separate policy or an endorsement to an existing policy.

They Most people who buy coverage live in quake-prone states, such as California, Washington and Missouri.

During all of this, the stock market managed to sky rocket up.

The Dow Jones industrial average jumped 322 points, its best day since Aug. 11, when it gained 423. The Dow dipped about 60 points shortly after an earthquake hit the East Coast at 1:51 p.m., but recovered within 20 minutes and soared even higher in the last two hours of trading.

Go figure.

WOW: Congressman Calls President Obama "Tar Baby" Then Apologizes..... Should He Be Fired? (VIDEO)

What the heck is going on here?

Like really though....calling out President a "tar baby"? Watch the video below to get the scoop smh.

WATCH FROM YOUR PHONE - HERE

Lots of people are outraged after hearing this derogatory racial comment. Will an apology even suffice?

Rapper 50 cent gave his 2 cents, as to why Republican congressman Doug Lamborn should be fired!

“Republican congressman Doug Lamborn should be relieved of his duties after calling president Obama a tar baby. Tar baby is a synonym for n*gger, except it is only used in bigoted manners, were as n*gga can be a sign of respect. The term comes from a children’s story in witch they explain that slaves were”dark and dumb”due to the fact they were” baptized in TAR” #SK. I can’t find a more disrespectful or ignorant way to describe the race or depiction of our president”
In Wikipedia "Tar Baby" is described as:
'In modern usage according to Random House, "tar baby" refers to any "sticky situation" that is only aggravated by additional contact."
But most say, when you are refering to an actual person as a "tar baby" it is a very derogatory racial term.

When you have NBA ball players and Celebrities getting fined for saying gay slurs then should congressman get fined and/ or fired for racial slurs....against our President?

"TALK OF THE WEEK": Lebron & D. Wade Vs. Dirk -- NBA Finals Drama!

Hmmm, this week was kinda light in the world of celebrities...... but not on the court!

As The NBA Finals are about the come to end it's really heating up out there! It's 3-2 and the MIAMI heat need to win TWO games in a row to win!

What had everyone talking was Lebron and wade making fun of Mavericks player Dirk Nowitsky because he was sick.

Then they lost there next game! Yup, after they made fun of him...Dirk went on to score 52 points the next game while Lebron scored 11 and the heat lost.

and Dirk really was sick...

This had everyone making jokes about Lebron, in fact there are webpages full of 'em, like this one lol...

How do you know you've found Lebron James' cell phone? It vibrates
and receives calls, but doesn't have a ring!

So now if mavericks win, it's over. We'll see what happens Sunday, June 10th at 8pm Eastern!

Also this week Obama declared June as LGBT month...some of you may be saying huh? Well back in 2008 Clinton proclaimed June as Gay and Lesbian Pride month.....

And ever since, Obama has been reenforcing it as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month each year.

The gay community does not, however, have the month to themselves. Obama also proclaimed June “National Caribbean-American Heritage Month,”
“African-American Music Appreciation Month” and “Great Outdoors Month.”

Worst Tornado In 37 Years Hits South U.S! Obama Visits -- "I've never seen devastation like this" (Video + Photos)

A wave of storms moved across the South on Wednesday, spawning the worst tornado outbreak in 37 years. It came days after a severe storm and tornado in the St. Louis area left homes flattened and an airport closed.

The recovery of more bodies pushed the death toll in Wednesday night's twisters to 329, making the outbreak the deadliest in the U.S. since 1932. The news came shortly after President Barack Obama toured some of the destroyed neighborhoods and met with devastated residents.

"I've never seen devastation like this,"
Obama said after touring the Tuscaloosa area.
"It is heartbreaking."

Egypt's Internet Blackout Cost Economy 90Mil! Congress Looking To Pass Same Bill In United States!! (VIDEO)

On Wednesday, Egypt appeared to be back on the Internet. The country started going dark last Thursday when President Hosni Mubarak's government ordered that all forms of mass communication, including Internet access, mobile networks, and SMS, be blocked. By Friday, even the country's stock exchange was offline.

But on Wednesday, the Internet blackout ended.
"This represents a new Internet milestone,"
said Craig Labovitz, chief scientist at Arbor Networks.
"We have never seen a country as connected as Egypt completely lose Internet connectivity for such an extended period."
He predicted that the blackout would have long-term repercussions for the country.
"Today, the Internet is as an integral part of the Egyptian economy and society. Unlike periods as recent as a decade ago, governments of technically developed countries cannot disrupt telecommunication without incurring significant economic cost and social/political pressures."

It is estimated that the blackout cost Egypt's economy about $90 million, or $18 million per day, comprising 3% to 4% of the country's economic output. Furthermore, the economic damage isn't over yet. According to the organization, Egypt will find it
"much more difficult in the future to attract foreign companies and assure them that the networks will remain reliable."

But can this happen in the United States or anywhere else? The answer is YES.

Congress is considering a bill to expand the President's authority granting power to pull the plug on the internet at will.

The bill in question is the Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act of 2010, a cyber-security measure introduced in June by Sen. Joseph Lieberman. It was an over-arching cyber-security measure that, among other things, would create an office of cyberspace policy within the White House and a new cyber-security center within the Homeland Security Department.

According to data on the web site opencongress.org, several companies and organizations are backing this proposed legislation. Among the corporate names backing the bill, are antivirus giant Symantec (Norton), and cyber security training organization SANS Institute.

If this bill goes through they would basically be able to shut our internet down just like Egypt.

President Obama's First State Of The Union Address Of 2011 (VIDEO)

January 25, 2011 - In his State of the Union address, the president voiced his support for Don't Ask, Don't Tell, saying that no one would be forbidden from serving the country because of who they love.

The United States must defeat hardened enemies and build coalitions worldwide to aid in the defeat of militants, President Barack Obama said Tuesday.

"America's moral example must always shine for all who yearn for freedom, justice, and dignity," Obama said during his State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress. "And because we have begun this work, tonight we can say that American leadership has been renewed and America's standing has been restored."

Violence is down in Iraq and a new government has been formed, he said, and U.S troops will leave this year.

"America's commitment has been kept; the Iraq War is coming to an end,"
he said to extended applause.

President Obama Meets Up With China's President For 3-Day Get-To-Gether w/ Celebs!

Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived in the United States on Tuesday for a state visit that will include high-profile talks with President Barack Obama on trade, currency, North Korea and other issues.

The three-day trip includes a state dinner on Wednesday (which was tonight) and the eighth face-to-face meeting between Obama and the Chinese leader, which administration officials say illustrates the importance of relations between two global powers at a time described by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as a "critical juncture."

Chinese state media has reported that Hu will stress how a constructive, comprehensive partnership between the two nations could be mutually beneficial and help ensure stability in Asia and worldwide, despite differences between Beijing and Washington on issues such as human rights and currency controls.

I guess he planned on discussing that with action star Jackie Chan because Jackie and plenty other celebs were among the guests at Wednesday's dinner. Barbra Streisand also topped a guest list including three presidents and political and media elites at a US state dinner for Chinese President Hu Jintao.

Check out the dinner room...

They say red means "good luck" in Chinese.

Looked like the President was focusing on some other things too...

Chinese President Hu Jintao, asked a second time about human rights at a Washington news conference, said
"a lot still needs to be done"
in China on rights while insisting enormous progress has been made.

Hu did not respond to an initial question about human rights at the White House news conference with U.S. President Barack Obama on Wednesday. Asked why, he blamed translation and technical problems.

Hu was asked about the topic after Obama used part of his opening statement at the news conference to say the United States supports dialogue between China and representatives of the Dalai Lama and wants Beijing to respect the religious rights of the Tibetan people.

He said "a lot still needs to be done" on human rights in China and he said China is willing to have a dialogue on the issue on the basis of mutual respect and non-interference into China's internal affairs.

China traditionally rejects criticism of its human rights record as interference in its internal affairs.

Former President G.W.Bush Goes On Oprah! (Video)

George W. Bush, promoting his memoir that hit store shelves Tuesday, pronounced himself "through with politics" and defended his decisions as president in a jokey interview with television talk show queen Oprah Winfrey.

"A lot of people didn't think I could read, much less write,"
Bush cracked about his book, "Decision Points," during the taped interview in Winfrey's Chicago studios.

Asked by Winfrey whether he regretted the decision to invade Iraq based on unfounded intelligence that leader Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, Bush admitted feeling "terrible" and "sickened" about being wrong the weapons, but blamed Hussein.

Bush admits mistakes, defends decisions

"I'll tell you what was wrong. Saddam Hussein deceived everybody. He didn't want people to know he did not have them ... which is strange because I made it clear to him to let the (arms) inspectors in or we'll remove you from power and he didn't believe me, sadly,"
Bush said.

"My point is the world is better with him gone,"
Bush said to applause from the studio audience.

Bush's eyes filled with tears when he talked about consoling widows of soldiers killed in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He grew angry when discussing critics (Kanye West) that accused him of racism after the government's admittedly flawed response to the destruction wrought by Hurricane Katrina.

"What really, really irritated was when they said my response was slow because I was a racist,"
Bush said, lamenting what he called the "ugliness of the American political scene."

Asked to weigh in on politics, Bush demurred, saying he would not "wade back into the swamp."

"I'm through with politics. It's hard for people to believe. I'm through,"
adding his successor Barack Obama
"has his critics, he doesn't need me opining on everything he does."

You can watch that clip below:

And in this video portion below he speaks on giving tax payers money over to the banks...and he "doesn't know" if it worked but he knows that we didn't have a depression.

Jay-Z Wants To Run For President???!

According to BBC, when Jay-Z was asked about running for presidency he said,
"Give me a chance. Maybe in eight years, I'll be the president."

As Barack Obama's Democratic Party goes through uneasy mid-term elections, the rapper believes President Obama needs time to sort things out.

He added,
"In order to judge someone, you have to judge what they inherit. He inherited the worst economy, war, just a horrible time in American history. So if we think he can solve that, I mean, we don't think he's God, do we? He's a human being. He's going to need time to figure that out."

It is also being reported that President Obama may seek out Jay-Z for help in this next 2012 presidential campaign. Deputy White House Press Secretary William Burton recently joked with the New York Post,

“I can't believe you've finally heard the chatter about [Jay] replacing Larry Summers. In all seriousness, keep in mind he was pretty active during the 2008 election, so I don't think it'd surprise anyone that [Jay] would be involved again. But it's a little premature.”

You think it's possible Jay-Z will help President Obama for his campaign in '12, then in return Obama will help Jay run in '16????

Wouldn't that be interesting....

Justin Bieber Likes His Older Women! Now He Has His Eyes On The Presidents Wife!

It's looking like the Biebs is looking for "mom" figure if you know what I mean! lol

Teen pop star Justin Bieber has a crush on US First Lady Michelle Obama — the wife of President Barack Obama.

Word is, the 16-year-old has so much admiration for this ‘glamorous’ First Lady that he even has a full length poster of her on his bedroom wall...

‘It sounds strange but Justin is a genuine fan. He met Michelle Obama when he sang for the Obamas at a concert in Washington last Christmas and was impressed,’
said a close pal.

‘He likes that she is so glamorous looking without looking unnatural or plastic like so many people he meets. She is someone he greatly admires,’
he added.

However, despite his choice of ladies, Bieber is happy staying away from the dating game.

He tells People.com,
"I'm single. I'm kind of looking, but I'm kind of trying to stay single... My mom didn't even want me dating, but that kind of didn't work,"

And Bieber explains he has a type of girl who will catch his eye:
"An ideal girl is someone who is funny - who can make me laugh."

Hmmmm...Justin seems to be liking the older women huh!

President Obama's Oval Office Speech: End of Combat Mission In Iraq "Operation Iraqi Freedom is over" [Video & Text of Speech

The text of President Barack Obama's speech from the Oval Office on the Iraq war:

Good evening. Tonight, I'd like to talk to you about the end of our combat mission in Iraq, the ongoing security challenges we face, and the need to rebuild our nation here at home.

I know this historic moment comes at a time of great uncertainty for many Americans.

We have now been through nearly a decade of war. We have endured a long and painful recession. And sometimes in the midst of these storms, the future that we are trying to build for our nation - a future of lasting peace and long-term prosperity may seem beyond our reach.

But this milestone should serve as a reminder to all Americans that the future is ours to shape if we move forward with confidence and commitment. It should also serve as a message to the world that the United States of America intends to sustain and strengthen our leadership in this young century.

From this desk, seven and a half years ago, President Bush announced the beginning of military operations in Iraq. Much has changed since that night. A war to disarm a state became a fight against an insurgency. Terrorism and sectarian warfare threatened to tear Iraq apart. Thousands of Americans gave their lives; tens of thousands have been wounded. Our relations abroad were strained. Our unity at home was tested.

President Obama's First Oval Office Address: "There Will Be More Oil & Damage Until This Seige Is Done" [VIDEO]

President Barack Obama says he understands the difficulties stemming from a six-month moratorium on new permits for deepwater drilling but tells the nation that he has to ensure the safety of those who work on the oil rigs at sea.

Obama on Tuesday said he had proposed expanded offshore drilling a few months ago with the assurances it was absolutely safe. He says that was obviously not the case aboard the BP rig that exploded and is now spewing oil into the Gulf of Mexico.

In his first Oval Office address that's featured below, Obama compared the need to end the country's "addiction to fossil fuels" to its emergency preparations for World War II and the mission to the moon.

Hours after the government sharply increased its estimate of how much oil is flowing into the gulf, the president warned that risks will continue to rise because

"we're running out of places to drill on land and in shallow water."
He called for fast Senate action on an energy bill that has already passed the House.

"There are costs associated with this transition, and some believe we can't afford those costs right now,"
Obama said.

"I say we can't afford not to change how we produce and use energy, because the long-term costs to our economy, our national security and our environment are far greater."

Even before the president addressed a prime-time television audience, congressional Republican leaders warned him not to use what he described as "the worst environmental disaster America has ever faced" to further his political agenda. But beyond the urgency of his appeal, his remarks were largely an 18-minute compilation of what he has said about the spill over the past several weeks.

Obama says he wants to hear a national panel's recommendations to improve worker safety and environmental protections before the moratorium is lifted. He says he also wants to understand what led to the sinking of the Deepwater Horizon rig.

(This version CLARIFIES that the moratorium is on new permits and CORRECTS that Obama proposed a drilling expansion, not approved it.)

Hours before President Obama took to the airwaves to speak to Americans about the gulf oil spill, the government group whose task it is to assess the flow rate from BP's undersea well came up with a revised estimate of 35,000 to 60,000 barrels a day.

A previous revision from the federal Flow Rate Technical Group, delivered Friday, pegged the flow at 20,000 to 40,000 barrels.

Obama is scheduled to meet Wednesday with BP Chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg to discuss response efforts and the establishment of escrow accounts to compensate those who the president said have been "harmed as a result of his company's recklessness."

Health Care Bill Passed By House of Representatives + President Obama Speaks on Bill! [VIDEO]

WASHINGTON - Delivering a hard-fought victory in President Barack Obama's year-long pursuit of a national healthcare overhaul, a divided House tonight narrowly voted to approve a Senate-passed healthcare bill which both supporters and opponents call historic!

The 219-212 vote will be delivered to the president's desk; A healthcare bill that he finally can sign.

This was the first step of a two-part drama unfolding in the House this evening, with another late vote expected on a package that reconciles differences between this Senate-passed and now House-approved bill and another measure which the House approved in November.

Together, the two bills would present the president with a long-sought triumph for the signature domestic agenda of his presidency, a bid to offer health insurance to an estimated 32 million Americans who are uninsured and improve the coverage of those with insurance.

The second measure, also expected to pass the House tonight, will have to go to the Senate, where leaders hope to approve it by a simple majority vote under a process of "budget reconciliation.'' Any changes made in the Senate, however, will return that legislation to the House before the president can sign the second bill.

"I know this bill is complicated, but it's also very simple,''
said House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) during the final debate
"Illness and infirmity are universal, but we are stronger against them together than we are alone…. In that shared strength is our nation's strength.''

Jay-Z & Beyonce Visit The White House Situation Room [PHOTOS]

Rapper Jay-Z’s apparent visit to the White House Situation Room Wednesday reveals a radical departure from the last eight years of security policy, according to a senior Bush administration official.

According to photos, Jay-Z, along with Trey Songz, his wife Beyonce, her mom, Kevin Liles and more, visited the White House Wednesday before a concert in Washington, D.C. During the visit, Jay-Z and company were apparently allowed access to the Situation Room. Photos from the visit feature Jay-Z sitting at the head of the table in the Situation Room under the president’s seal...

Historically, the Situation Room requires a high level of clearance due to the presence of sensitive information.
“I believe the only exceptions had to be okay’d by either the chief of staff, national security adviser or the deputy chief of staff,”
the Bush official wrote in an e-mail.

The Bush official, who was present for a remodeling of the Situation Room in 2006, added,
“We made very few exceptions to the rule, usually a visiting foreign dignitary attending a meeting there or someone without a clearance who needed to be briefed in that facility for some reason."

According to Jay-Z, who casually told the crowd at a Wednesday night concert at the Verizon Center,
"I just came from the White House."
The White House confirmed that Jay-Z did visit the White House Wednesday for a quick, unscheduled visit with the president. A white House aide told CNN that special visitors occasionally visit the Situation Room.
"It's not like there's classified information laying around,"
the aide said.
"It's really just a conference room."
